Mickey Mouse Origami is a limited edition print by Italian artist Alessandro Paglia. It shows Mickey Mouse in profile facing right, with arms outstretched, on a plain white background. Each part of the character is drawn as folded and creased material, giving it an origami-like appearance: black ears, arms, legs and tail, a pale pink face, gray gloves, red shorts and yellow shoes. The work is rendered in a photorealistic style, with highlights and shadows on each fold and a soft shadow beneath the shoes.
About the Artist
Alessandro Paglia is an Italian artist who grew up in Milan and studied design at the Politecnico di Milano. Before working as an artist full time, he spent more than ten years in product and brand design, including five years at 3M's international design center. His work focuses on familiar objects and pop culture icons. He physically alters a subject, for example by folding, crushing or freezing it, then photographs it and reproduces the image by hand in a photorealistic style. A single original can take between 50 and 250 hours to complete.

About Alessandro Paglia
Hailing from Milan, the Italian capital of design, Alessandro Paglia has always been fascinated by the sheer elegant simplicity of that most classic of colour combinations, black and white, whether it be in the fine-arts, design, fashion, film or photography. With an education and background in product design and over ten years of experience in that field, Alessandro says “Objects attract me, in particular their aesthetics, textures, materials and volumes. I feel inspired by the stories they tell, their personalities, the ingenuity of their creators, their hidden world. At some point I simply felt that I had to combine these two passions.” The result of this fusion are his exceptional artworks.
