Carmen Carpena was born and raised in Mexico, where her passion for art and painting was something she unfortunately had to set aside.

Living in a country facing challenges at that time, she was advised by her father to pursue a different career to secure her future. However, her determination to become an artist never wavered. After moving to the United States, she began her journey by focusing on realism in her paintings, but often felt constricted by the rules, shapes, and forms, which turned her passion into something resembling a job.

In a bold move, she chose to follow her heart rather than adhere to others' expectations, recognizing her need for artistic freedom. This decision led her to develop a distinctive style and creative process that often diverges from conventional norms.
